Beet Smoothie


Detoxify your liver naturally by consuming some great foods like carrots, beets, celery, cucumber, parsley, ginger, apples, cilantro.  The following smoothie recipe includes several of these detoxifying foods.

Makes 2 cups

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 raw beet, unpeeled
  • 1/2 red apple
  • 1/2 small carrot, peeled
  • 1 slice (1/2” thick) lemon slice, without peel
  • 1/2” fresh ginger
  • 2 cups water

Directions:

  1. Mix all ingredients in a blender or use a hand blender. Add more water if necessary.
  2. Enjoy immediately.

Switch up the taste by adding cilantro, parsley or other vegetables.

  • Cut up individual portions of beets, carrots, apples and ginger and freeze.  Use for easy prep and get a consistency closer to a smoothie with frozen ingredients.
  • Add ground flaxseed for fiber.
